CHEEKTOWAGA DEMOCRATS ENDORSE KAZNOWSKI TO FILL VACANCY

December 10... With Cheektowaga Council Member Alice Magierski vacating her Town Board seat at the end of
the year, the
Cheektowaga Democratic Town Committee convened tonight to recommend a replacement.

The new Town Board will appoint an individual to fill the vacancy at the beginning of the year. That person
will have to then run in a special election in November to complete the rest of the term, which
expires December 31, 2009.

The 222 member committee considered two candidates whose names were placed in nomination. Timothy
Meyers, an Airfield Supervisor for the NFTA, was nominated by Supervisor Elect Mary Holtz; He was opposed by
Stanley Kaznowski III, Chief Financial Officer for Curtis Screw Corp and President of the Town Park Homeowners
Association, and was nominated by retiring Council Member Tom Johnson.

A third declared candidate, Andrew Kulyk, a town businessman and Chairman of the Zoning Board of
Appeals, withdrew from consideration at the meeting, and threw his support behind Kaznowski.

In his comments, Meyers placed his emphasis on the welfare of the children of Cheektowaga. “I want a safe
environment for them to thrive” said Meyers.

Kaznowski was a hard luck loser in the 2007 Democratic primary, coming in six votes short of a third place
finish. “Time for a fresh face and new creative thinking. I come from the private sector” said
Kaznowski.

Over 150 committeemen attended and cast ballots. The weighted vote count resulted as follows: Stan
Kaznowski 12,893 (59%). Tim Meyers, 9,110 (41%).

With this vote, the Democratic Committee officially recommends Stan Kaznowski to the Town Board to take
the vacant seat on January 1. This recommendation is non binding, but the Town Board traditionally has
followed the Committee’s lead in filling interim appointments to Town elected offices.

IT'S A SWEEP! CHEEKDEMS WIN ALL TOWN RACES

November 7... Democrats in Cheektowaga were in a festive mood at R-Bar in Sloan last night as all seven
candidates on the Town ticket cruised to easy victory.

Running uncontested were Supervisor candidate Mary Holtz and Town Justice Town Kolbert. Council Member
Alice Magierski easily won election to the office of Town Clerk posting 70% of the vote. Newcomer Mark Wegner
won the position of Highway Superintendent with 65% of the vote. For Council, incumbents Jeff Swiatek and Ricky
Zydel pulled first and second. Charlie Markel completed his improbable underdog campaign with a strong third
place finish. A whopping 2000 votes separated Markel from the nearest Republican challenger.

Chairman Frank Max thanked the over 100 supporters and committeemen who attended for all the hard work,
and specifically acknowledged the volunteers who worked election Day and the day before under some trying
conditions. "To all the guys who stood out there in the sleet and the snow, it was a tough day out there, and the
candidates truly appreciate everything you did for them."

The Cheektowaga Democratic Committee has been firing on all cylinders in the two weeks leading to the election.
A door to door campaign hit all 111 districts two weeks ago, with another 51 districts being targeted this last
weekend. Volunteers were manning phone banks not only for the town slate but also for the county candidates. A
townwide mailing hit homes this past Friday, supported by print and radio advertising on local outlets.

On the county level, Cheektowaga's legislator Tom Mazur easily won re-election to his seat District 8, fending off
numerous challengers in the primary and then winning broad support in the fall run. Mazur's win assures that
Cheektowaga will have representation in the new legislature.

ELECTION 2007 HEADS TO CONCLUSION

November 3... The Cheektowaga Democratic Committee has been organizing literature drops, mailings, phone
banks and other campaign activities, and it all comes to an end this Tuesday, when voters go to the ballot to elect
a new Town Supervisor, three Council Members, a new Highway Superintendent and Town Clerk and a Town
Justice.

Mary Holtz and Tom Kolbert are uncontested for the position of Supervisor and Town Justice, respectively.

Charlie Markel, Rick Zydel and Jeff Swiatek are running spirited campaigns for the three council positions, and
Mark Wegner is seeking the post of Highway Superintendent. Alice Magierski is running for Town Clerk.

Committeemen and volunteers are welcome to contact the Democratic Committee and we will find you a job.
Phone canvassing will take place on Monday and Tuesday, and returns will be collected at R-Bar on Broadway in
Sloan after 9PM. Refreshments will be served.

MARKEL SNAGS THIRD COUNCIL SPOT IN PHOTO FINISH

September 27, Cheektowaga, New York... Newcomer Charles Markel has officially won the third and final
spot on the Democratic slate for the office of Council Member, after a recanvass of all voting districts was
performed by the Erie County Board of Elections this afternoon.

All absentee ballots, emergency ballots and legitimate affidavit ballots were counted and added to the tally.
The results are as follows: Jeff Swiatek, 4483 votes; Rick Zydel 3434 votes; Charles Markel 2841 votes and
Stan Kaznowski 2835 votes.

Commissioner of Elections Dennis Ward personally oversaw most of the recount and will still need to
officially certify the results.

In attendance to view the canvass were Executive Vice Chairman Andrew Kulyk and Vice Chairman Joan Adams
from the Cheektowaga Democratic Town Committee. Also present was Diane Benczkowski, who unsuccessfully
sought the Democratic nomination for Town Clerk.

The vote tally was concluded about 5PM this afternoon. Both Markel and Kaznowski attended a meeting of the
Endorsed Demcoratic Candidates Committee which was also scheduled today, and both men offered each other
congratulations, and pledged their support towards the entire Democratic ticket this November.

This election most likely sets a record for the closest outcome ever in a Cheektoiwaga race. In 1977
Donald Wegner defeated Bernard Wojtkowiak by 10 votes in the Democratic primary to win the third and final
council position. In 1979 Supervisor Kenneth Meyers defeated Democratic nominee Daniel Weber by an 83 vote
margin in the general election for Supervisor, out of a total of over 35,000 votes cast.
